After the clinker has been ground into fne cement powder in the ball mill, it is mixed with further additives and stored in storage or bufer silos. The volume of the bufer silos can vary widely due to the diferent silo dimensions, which depend on how the material will be further transported: by truck, train or ship.

Content measurement in cement storage silos

The VEGAPULS 68 radar sensor is used especially in large storage silos that are sometimes built up in segments. Its excellent signal focusing ensures a reliable function without interference from the silo walls, even in conjunction with these very large measuring ranges.

For silos with average dimensions up to 30 m (98 ft), the guided wave radar sensor VEGAFLEX 82 is the robust and reliable solution. The strong cable of the guided wave radar sensor withstands tensile forces up to 3 tons and is thus applicable for measuring heavy bulk solids like cement. The sensor delivers reliable measurement data regardless of the composition of the cement.

VEGAWAVE 62 as overfill protection

The vibrating level switch VEGAWAVE 62 provides for reliable, wear and maintenance-free level detection. Its robust tuning fork guarantees a positive switching function for the full or empty signal, even under conditions of heavy buildup in the silo.
